Robb Montgomery

Robb Montgomery leads a workshop at the International  Investigative Journalism Film Festival.

Robb Montgomery is the author of textbooks and certificate courses in mobile journalism.

He is a former newspaper editor (Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune) and his documentary films have been honored 19 times at international film festivals.

He is the author of “Smartphone Video Storytelling (Routledge Books) and Videos mit dem Smartphone (German language edition).

In 2011 he developed the mobile journalism training program for Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty broadcast reporters and has trained more than 20,000 storytellers in smartphone video production methods.

Montgomery authored the Mobile Journalism syllabus used by top journalism schools and leads a certificate course in digital storytelling for the United Nations public information officers.

Since 2015, has taught mobile journalism courses at the EFJ school of journalism in Paris, and the Danish School of Journalism.

He has trained reporters from CNN, The New York Times, Reuters, Channel News Asia, Belgian Public Television, Russ Media, Al Jazeera and Singapore Press Holdings

He was named the Ashoka Storyteller in Residence for 2015.

He holds a b.a. in Journalism (1990 – Eastern Illinois University).
