Robb Montgomery

Robb Montgomery leads a workshop at the International  Investigative Journalism Film Festival.

Robb Montgomery is a mobile journalism instructor who produces training workshops and certificate courses.

He is a former newspaper editor (Chicago Sun-Times and Chicago Tribune) and the author of “Smartphone Video Storytelling (Routledge Books) and Videos mit dem Smartphone (German language edition).

His mobile documentary films have been awarded at 18 International film festivals and since 2015, has led mobile journalism courses at the EFJ school of journalism in Paris, and the Danish School of Journalism.

He has trained reporters from CNN, The New York Times, Reuters, Channel News Asia, Belgian Public Television, Russ Media, Al Jazeera and Singapore Press Holdings

In 2011 he developed the mobile journalism training program for Radio Free Europe / Radio Liberty and has trained more than 20,000 storytellers in mobile video methods.

He authored the Mobile Journalism syllabus used by leading universities and leads a certificate course in digital storytelling for the United Nations public information officers.

He holds a b.a. in Journalism (1990 – Eastern Illinois University).
