The Smart Film School is building a new studio.

I will be sharing photos and notes of how I am transforming this second room in a typical German flat into a proper project studio for film and broadcast.

The spare room is about to get the studio treatment.
Painting prep at the new studio construction at the Smart FIlm School in Berlin .
Proper prep is key to a good paint job.
Painter's tape close up shot
Patiently applying high-quality tape is key to getting a crisp edge.
This entire wall will be painted with screen projector paint.

BeamerFarbe is what we are using. Three liters is enough to cover a wall that measures 4.5 meters by 2.5 meters. Two coats, trim edges. Plus plenty left over for touchups as needed.

This is the story of how we are going to transform this ordinary spare room into a new studio at the Smart FIlm School in Berlin .
The start of new studio construction at the Smart FIlm School in Berlin begins with painting the back wall with screen projection paint.
After the first coat of paint, we make a quick test of new screen projection wall by clipping a humble magenta filter to a painter’s light. So far, so good.
Next task is to install a ceiling grid
Will use the drawing with measurements that were prepared specifically for this room .
I’ve marked the corners of where the work desk is with pink tape on the floor.
The grid is going up, piece by piece.
A light grid can be stylish AND functional.

Stay tuned . . .

This post will be updated as the project moves along.
