Every April the International Journalism Festival produces no-cost #MOJO clinics and workshops in Perugia, Italy. We always talk about new gear (More new stuff shown at end of this post) and storytelling techniques.
Here are some of the sessions and workshops I have presented over the years – https://www.journalismfestival.com/speaker/robb-montgomery.
In 2019 I am partnering with an Italian #MOJO teacher to discuss best practices for making MOJO happen in your newsrooms and classrooms.
Of course I will also produce the signature ‘Sunrise Film Walk‘ events that I created for this special festival.
If you are interested in attending one, you must register in advance and in-person at the Festival Press Office. This event is extremely popular and the are limited seats available to delegates are filled quickly.
We will sure to have new tips and tricks to share, new award-winning #Mojo films to share and loads of new stories from the frontier where we are making our research and tutorials.
This year, Jördis and I will kick off our #MOJOtrek storytelling adventures producing Advanced Feature storytelling workshops with TV journalists in Singapore and then spend the next six weeks camping and trekking across New Zealand nature parks (and on hut-to-hut hiking tours).
In my backpack I will be carrying the “World-Smallest Film Kit™ to make professional film documentaries suitable for screening in digital cinemas, TV and, of course, your smartphone. Just add Smartphone!
All of this cinematic kit can fit in my waterproof backpack. GoPros, Suction cup mounts, remotes, 4K gimbal cam and batteries. This is how I start out filming my award-winning #Mojo documentaries. I get my gear together and then place myself in situations where it may find a story worth sharing.
What’s in your #MOJO backpack for 2019?
