Literally “from Smartphone to the Silver Screen.”
This mobile journalism workshop will also screen the Best of Mobile Journalism from the recent Mobile Journalism Awards competition.

As part of the U.S. Speaker Program – the U.S. Embassy Singapore and Singapore University of Social Sciences are hosting an in-person mobile journalism workshop on August 17, 2023. The workshop is part of the U.S. State Department’s U.S. Speaker Program.
SPEAKER BIO
Robb Montgomery is an American Mobile Journalism expert, filmmaker and author based in Berlin.
He is the author of Smartphone Video Storytelling and Mobile Journalism textbooks and and serves as chair of the Mobile Journalism Awards.
Montgomery has led training programs in mobile video reporting and documentary filmmaking in more than 34 countries, most recently in Odessa, Ukraine.
His documentary films have been awarded top prizes at global film festivals and his certificate courses at the Smart Film School are used by journalism schools and media organizations worldwide.
Montgomery is a former editor for the Chicago Tribune and Chicago Sun-Times.
Montgomery trains journalists for Reuters, WAN-IFRA, IREX, InterNews, United Nations, U.S. State Department, Journalism Co UK, Mediacorp, SRMG, Radio Free Europe, Journalism Co UK, Middle East Broadcast Network, GIJN, International Journalism Festival, NABSHOW, and many public broadcasters.
He developed the first mobile journalism training program for Radio Free Europe TV in 2011.
As a visiting professor he has led courses in visual journalism at Northwestern University, Stockholm University, University of London, FH Wien, Singapore University, Danish School of Journalism, and Ohio University.
